Environmental studies, is a nature-based curriculum where teachers nurture learner-led exploration and discovery, nurturing meaningful experiences for positive lifelong impacts and with the current push to minimise climate change, Environmental studies is an excellent way to better the planet and students alike.
Wellbeing is the foundation of our practice and through recognising the social, emotional and physical needs of our children we provide the guidance and facilitation for our time in nature. There are opportunities to work with external visitors and be able to explore nature in the UK in a variety of settings. With support from the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust we have additional opportunities to visit many of their wildlife locations. Using the four part system of Identify, explore, conserve and share. Our students will work together to achieve a better school environment, and develop an understanding of the changing environment in which we live. This is both project based and knowledge based giving our children the time to really explore to learn and to make a difference.
The Environment Curriculum is linked with so many areas across the whole school, it has obvious links with English and science, it has clear links with geography, RE and the World and PHSE. Learning is both indoor learning about the changing world in which we live and exploration outdoors.
