SEND Newsletter - Latest

Free Sensory Pack -  Caudwell Children have created The Get Sensory Pack to provide affordable sensory equipment to support disabled children during this especially difficult time. These packs are available to children who have a confirmed disability or chronic illness.

MAX card - Entitles SEND children, LAC & carers to discount off various attractions.

Carers support -North East Lincolnshire - Carers are unpaid and look after someone who cannot manage without them. The support they provide may be personal, practical, emotional or supervisory. They may care for someone who is ill, frail, disabled, has a mental health condition or substance misuse problem.

Young Carers - Young Carers often take on practical and/or emotional caring responsibilities that would normally be expected of an adult. The tasks undertaken can vary according to the nature of the illness or disability, the level and frequency of need for care and the structure of the family as a whole.

Bus pass - SEND - The bus pass gives you free bus travel, Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 11pm, and free travel all day during weekends and bank holidays.

North East Lincolnshire Local Offer - Find everything you need to know about SEND in one place. The Local Offer brings together information for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities and their families.

North East Lincolnshire Childrens Disability Service - Children with disabilities are automatically defined as ‘children in need’. There is a range of services available to children and families assessed as needing them.

SENDIASS - Special Educational Needs and Disabilities information, advice and support service

Centre 4 - Help and advice on debts, benefits, money, relationships and family, employment & consumer advice. Community Gym. Butterflies Day Nursery. Butterflies Mums. Photocopying and printing. Courses. Plus so much more!!

Occupational Therapy -  We work closely with the child or young person, their family and other professionals involved.

Cat Zero - Early intervention to address barriers to personal and family development. Helping families to make lasting change, offering support with anything from family activities, behaviour management, debt, poor school attendance through to substance misuse and mental health. Available in the East/ West Marsh, Nunsthorpe and Cleethorpes.

Womens Aid - Support for victims of Domestic Violence.

Merlin's Magical Days Out - Complimentary tickets for attractions with funding towards travel costs.

Financial Support

Nunsthorpe Community Shop - Members of Community Shop can shop for good food at great prices – easing pressure on family budgets – but also gain access to professional, personal development programmes, to kick-start positive change in their own lives. We call this The Success Plan.

Help with food provision - Food banks - This page sets out the current support to families and individuals who may need support with food and cooking.

Health

Continence - The Children’s Continence service is a specialist service that offers advice and support to children and young people within North East Lincolnshire who may have problems with their bowel or bladder.

Dentist - Dental care to people who are unable to use general dental services, including people with disabilities or special needs.

School Nursing Team -  The School Nursing service is available to children from the age of 4 and a half years, young people and their families. We work in partnership with GP’s, Schools, Family Hub Practitioners and various other professionals to meet identified needs and provide the best possible care.

GP Out of Hours - The GP Out of Hours team, provides advice and treatment to people in North East Lincolnshire, with urgent medical concerns when GP surgeries are closed.

NAVIGO - Previously, Young Minds Matters -  Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, or CAMHS, provides a range of comprehensive and multi-disciplinary community-based mental health and emotional wellbeing services for children and young people in North East Lincolnshire. The service is made up of highly skilled and experienced staff, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, group workers and practitioners.

Compass GO - Mental Health Support Team works with children, young people, families and educational settings in North East Lincolnshire. We provide support, help and advice for pupils, students and schools for issues related to emotional and mental health wellbeing. Compass GO… currently have full school coverage of the North East Lincolnshire borough but please call our duty line to clarify if needed.

The Neurodevelopmental Service - The Neurodevelopmental Service is the route for children and young people (up to their 18th year), where support has already been accessed and tried, but further multi-disciplinary discussions may be required. This informs any extra intervention or specialist assessments needed, for example Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

Wellbeing Service - We are a team of wellbeing workers and practitioners who offer FREE one to one and group support to North East Lincolnshire residents aged 18+. We are available in your community or virtually over the phone, and will work with you to identify your needs and support you in setting wellbeing goals in your life.

Sleep Support for Parents/ Carers

We Are with You - Alcohol & Drug support -  Get in touch with our free, confidential service and talk to one of our trained staff. We’re here to listen – you can tell us as little or as much as you want.

The Blue Door -  We are a specialist service who provide support to anyone that has experienced domestic abuse and sexual violence in North and North East Lincolnshire and those who have experienced rape and serious sexual offences in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire through a variety of advocacy, outreach workers, groups and programmes.

SEND Activities

Sensory cinema - Sensory adapted cinema and activity experiences in the heart of Grimsby. Inclusive, immersive and adapted for those with sensory needs. With themed screens for a fun viewing experience, live singing performances, sensory toys and activities, sensory play, chill out zones and a quiet sensory room, Sensory Cinema is one of the most unique experiences tailored for the wider SEND community.

Linkage Sensory Library - Our sensory library gives people the opportunity to borrow sensory resources and find out what works for them, at no cost. We have found that this is particularly useful for people thinking about buying sensory equipment as helps them avoid making expensive mistakes

FLAG - Family Links around Grimsby - FLAG GRIMSBY aims to provide recreational activities for children from age 8 to 19 who have a range of disabilities and special needs.

CONNECT - “Connecting you to your local community”. Services in your local area and local activities. Also information on food banks.

SPOTLIGHT - A ‘one stop shop’ for our communities to share events, groups, clubs and good work being done in our area. It is a place to ‘shine a light on’ and support the fantastic community groups and organisations out there but is also a home to some great informative content for the groups themselves.

FORESIGHT - The programmes are filled with fun and exciting activities that everyone can enjoy, the activities range from swimming, ice skating, woodland walks, museums, seaside beach fun and much more! The Children Scheme is aimed at Young People 8 to 17 Years that have a disability and/or learning difficulty. The activities are there to provide something fun and stimulating to all Young People that use the facility.

The Trin Centre - Cleethorpes Community Sport and Education is a Charity that was established in 2017 with the aim of bringing the community of Cleethorpes and the wider Borough of North East Lincolnshire together, regardless of social-economic background, age, religion, disability or race, via the provision of community bonding, education and sport.

Grimsby Town Ability Counts FC - Grimsby Town Ability Counts FC is a disability football club offering opportunities for age 16+ Footballers of all abilities to participate in football. We are not only a football club but a community group offering our members the opportunity to socialise, be supported and grow as individuals.
