Science - Curriculum Information

Our vision is to inspire the next generation of Scientists through an exciting and stimulating Science curriculum!

Our aim is to ensure that all children build a core body of scientific knowledge, vocabulary and skills so that they may understand and apply science in everyday life.

We provide meaningful hands-on experiences, rooted in inquiry-based learning so that our pupils develop a sense of excitement and curiosity about science within the world in which we live.”

Cambridge Park Academy Awarded Primary Science Quality Mark

PSQM is a comprehensive evidence-based professional development programme that effectively develops science leadership, ensuring teachers have the knowledge, capability and support they need to transform science education and shape future generations.  The Primary Science Quality Mark (PSQM) is designed to set every child on a path to a life filled with exciting opportunities, by giving them access to high quality primary science education. The PSQM is enabling a world of possibilities for pupils.

We are delighted to announce that we achieved the Primary Science Quality Mark in May 2024. Having received some excellent feedback from the assessors at Hereford University, we are proud of the quality of the Science teaching and learning opportunities at CPA. Ultimately, the PSQM has empowered us to offer our pupils a science curriculum that has a positive and lasting impact on their learning in science.

Here is some feedback from the external assessors about CPA’s achieved and the science curriculum we offer;

“Outdoor learning has developed in tandem with Environmental Science to develop and use the outdoor space to learn and grow produce. This together with Animal Care has greatly supported a sense of wonder and responsibility.”

“Science week was a real success and was supported through funding. Activity was adapted for need and included all pupils. Pupils also experienced time with a range of STEM professionals including a biologist, farmer and fireman. Pupils also visited places such as the garden centre and a farm. Links with Environmental Science has supported outdoor learning, growing produce, responsibility for their environment and culminated in a successful celebration event involving parents.”

“Science leaders developed an increased quality in science teaching leading to a clear improvement in pupil engagement, enthusiasm and capital this year.”

What do pupils at Cambridge Park think about our science curriculum –

“I like learning all about the world and how things work.”

“I love it when we have science all week and we do lots of experiments!”

“It really makes your brain think, about how the plants and trees grow.”

“We do lots of science and I really like doing experiments with my friends.”
