Sustainability

At Cambridge Park School, sustainability is embedded in our everyday practice and long-term planning. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact, supporting pupil wellbeing, and helping children understand their role in protecting the planet.

Our work focuses on practical action, education and continuous improvement.

Our Sustainability Approach

We organise our sustainability work around a number of key areas:

Reducing Our Carbon Footprint

We actively measure our carbon footprint and take part in the national Let’s Go Zero campaign. Our modern school building, solar panels and energy-efficient lighting help us reduce energy use and emissions.

Sustainable Travel & Air Quality

We encourage active travel through cycle storage and Bikeability training, while monitoring air quality around the school and considering environmental impact when planning trips.

Waste Reduction & Recycling

Recycling is well established across the school, including battery and bottle-top recycling schemes and reusable dining equipment. Pupils are supported to understand why reducing waste matters.

Biodiversity & Outdoor Learning

Children take part in gardening activities through our Gardening Club and Eco Club, supported by tree planting and outdoor learning spaces that help pupils connect with nature.

Climate Education & Green Skills

Sustainability forms part of our school culture and curriculum. Staff are supported to develop confidence in teaching climate-related topics, helping pupils build awareness of future green skills and careers.

Looking Ahead

Our Climate Action Plan helps us to:

  • Review progress regularly

  • Identify priorities for improvement

  • Celebrate successes with pupils and staff

  • Plan future sustainability actions in a structured way
